can a standard M3 steering wheel be re trimmed, my wheel is good but it may be worth looking for a spare. CSL ones go for top ££

They are the same - but make sure it's from a SMG car - the non SMG steering wheel doesn't have provision for the SMG switch mounting and it'd be a pain in the arse to try and cut the rubber moulding for the SMG switch gear.

Shake&Bake 01-07-2009 10:27 AM

*Cough* Would they be able to make gear gaiters and handbrake gaiters too if asked really nicely?

I sent them an email straight after your previous response this morning but I haven't heard back from them yet. It may be worth you contacting them though. Looks like a good sign their obviously busy!!

Yes I would like the ///M stitching for both gear gaiter and handbrake gaiter, and posting to Southern Ireland as part of the quote.

Cheers buddy

WTF? Andy, you really are starting to concern me... Not only would that not be in keeping with 'standard' - it would also add weight to the car... :clown: :hahaha:

No way..I stop at underpants and no more.

I'm a bit of an alcantara tart to be honest...love the stuff....God know how many little alcantaras died to trim the interior on my last car.

To be honest if it's cheaper to buy new door pulls then I will...if not trim in the good stuff on the cards....

If it adds weight I will just loose a few pounds myself..

Was wondering if anyone has had their steering wheel retrimed by Transcal?
I am contemplating having mine refurbed but was looking for some feedback before going ahead.

cslonko 02-10-2009 12:53 PM

Did anyone get their wheel done by Trancal? Would love some feedback on the quality of their work. I'm in desperate need to fix my wheel due to bad wear. It even has an ugly hole in the alcantara. Well, I'm not really totally desperate, the car drives beautifully even if the steering wheel looks awful, hehe. But I really would like to get this fixed. A new wheel costs way over 1000 euros here in Sweden :smt120

magnust 24-02-2011 12:51 PM

Just sent my wheel in last week. Very eager to see the result :-D Can take pics when I get it back if anyone is interested?

Bought a protective cover to spare the new alcantara when the car is left to the garage for service or when I shift wheels or something and need to move the car:

Chris-CSL 31-08-2012 12:32 PM

Ok Chaps need a hand I need the steering wheel redone (its shocking at the moment) However I really do need a company that does advanced replacements and it seems transcal do not offer this service. I do not want to have to go throught the hassle of purchasing a new wheel just for 1-2 weeks of use. So advice is needed if possible or if there is noone out there do any of you chaps have a spare wheel I can borrow/pay for while I get mine done?

chrisburns 31-08-2012 12:33 PM

Have you shaved and cleaned it first? I done this on mine a while ago and was amazed how well it came up.

Chris-CSL 31-08-2012 01:34 PM

I have not to be honest however the 1/4 to 3 grip area is so worn I think its getting to the point of wearing though I also wanted to bring the car upto a standard as it looks a little tired on the cloth side. However on the cleaning element what did you use or recommend?

& one of these....

http://www.portableappliances.com.au...Sexes-1812.jpg

Honestly makes a huge difference.

Chris-CSL 31-08-2012 03:31 PM

How can I not take this seriously :) Ask a stupid question and get a sarcastic reply :hahaha:. I will now ventrue out this evening and attempt to find such stuff, I will give it a try.

Many thanks though, I still need though for you other lot a advanced replacement sterring wheel company or a loaner.

chrisburns 31-08-2012 04:16 PM

:-D Honestly that raceglaze alcantara cleaner is great stuff. I was amazed how much dirt it removed that i didn't realise was there to begin with.

Chris-CSL 31-08-2012 09:01 PM

Many thanks Chris, Just ordered some of that stuff plus the cloth now just got to wait for it :) If its as good as you say then i might delay the purchase of a new wheel :/

chrisburns 31-08-2012 10:43 PM

A shave is required as well, I must do mine again soon too.

0-60Motorsports 26-09-2012 09:55 AM

I have a spare wheel lying around and will send it to them to have it done in Alcantara. What I want to know is if they can make the steering a bit thicker like the E9X M3's in the same cost
