Oh no Shim you are going to look a right james blunt with one of them ;)
yeah it was a good day at Donny yesterday sorry to hear about Lawsy getting turfed off, I was hoping for a passenger lap late on in the afternoon you were flying mate the cars a beast:thumbs: good to see the rest of the guys and CSL's were flying and I've got to say the big fella Shimmy was peaking :smokin:

Barry and Yanto did fantastic considering it was their first visit to Donny and the old warhorse wheels was flying the last hour, the shopper struggled a bit in the dry and the scalp bag was pretty light ;)

conleth m3 27-02-2012 11:04 AM

What a glorious day.....not a cloud, cool but sunny. Perfect.

So we had a night out on the Saturday in Melbourn. Beers and Curry with TerryB, Curly, Yanto, oNeill and his poor lady:bigcry:

ONeill drunk 2 beers which was one too many and didn't stop talking until 12 midnight, non stop. But luckily he only mentioned S2000s twice. Things are looking up.

Curly kept to his side of the bedroom which was unexpected but a relief, and luckily unlike NorthernJim he wears something in bed so no need for me to hide under the covers.

Sunday morning was cloudless and stayed so all day. Superb and made me ver y happy. There must have been 30 cars and 40 people there from CSLREGISTER, PureGT and OPL. About 8 CSLs, 5 m3, two RaceM3, 6 ShimmyRacing mx5, 964, Clio, mr2, GT3, GTR, Fiesta, EvoVIii, 6RS, Skoda Shopper etc etc. Great Turn out.

My day however didn't go to plan totally. Vibration on the way to Donny turned out to be a dodgy wishbone ball joint, heavy vibration under braking and knocking when turning. I decided to scale back the laps for the day but by 3pm id forgotten that rule and was putting in the miles.

Oneill was certainly quick on the pace. Managed to have a couple of sessions on track nose to tail with which was good fun. I think I only did 6 sessions on track. All 6 I had passengers however for the last one I dropped them off and went out for 5 laps 'empty' which was fun.

Giraffe and Tom turned up about 9am which was excellent. I told them to bully their way into any car they could and Giraffe managed to share with Ken in a 964 (not his car) which was duly stuck in the gravel and damaged by the recovery truck.

As for my laps, I have to say that pretty quickly the lap times were down to my best ever which was good. Then in the afternoon a few 1m20s came into view which was my target for the day. I never really had a perfect lap but was pleased its the day. I played with the Nitrons a little and NorthnJim and me had an episode on CRANERS where the back stepped out which we had to decipher. Popped into the pits adjusted the rear shocks and back out and all ok. (see Nitron thread for update).

I think overall I have improved on Old Hairpin to Coppice and maybe Redgate but was slower on Hollywood and CRANERS and maybe not as fast as I could be on Goddards.

So car survived, well didn't fall off, Nitrons learnt a bit more, lap times improved, Skodas and Mx5s spanked. Need to get two new wishbones and bushes me thinks.

Well done everybody, great day and role on Silverstone GP on Easter Monday 9th April (see members section for discount).

I wont miss the video commentary.:smokin:

The spacers kept a low profile but we did clean them and wire wok them as they were encrusted with grit and grime in the copper grease.:supz:

In combination with front ironing board yes eliminates all under steer and oversteer really enjoyed chucking it everywhere even when 888's had gone off after couple of laps just need to be stickered up ready for timeattack )

My best was 1m 20.67s last session. I didn't record the afternoon sessions other than this one for some reason but I remember a best at 2pm being 1m 20.8s so I don't think I bettered it.

Theoretical best 1m19.5 :smt055

shane@mbtech 27-02-2012 02:19 PM

My best in the Datsun.

1.19,07 that was before lunch- shame I didnt get out after lunch, I would have brought the lap times down a bit.

Not bad for out the box. I reckon there is a 1.16 in standard form.

If I fit rear roll bar and 285 tyres on front I reckon in the 1.15-1.16 area.

The thing was fucking epic- but fuck me does it like a drink on track:whistle:

northernjim 27-02-2012 02:33 PM

1:20.8 was with me wasn't it? going well you were:beer:

:thumbs:1:20.8 was when we were pushing/pulling one and other along and you had big Jim in. My best was 1:21.27 following you, but the data is suspect.
