Since October 2012 I've had terrible back pain... I blamed it on bad posture at work and moving large bits of furniture around the house but in October 2012 something else happened... I bought my CSL.
Thank you for this thread... my seats were too low. I got my seats out today, adjusted them then went out for drive... so far my back feels bit better. Next week I have my usual 250 miles for the week.. so I will know for sure. My back was so bad that I have been walking around like hunchback. Anyway, enough of my problems... photos to go with the words on this brilliant thread... http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...sad2b3740.jpeg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...s89460368.jpeg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...s946ae08c.jpeg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...s554f0922.jpeg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...s4326d606.jpeg http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...s8267630b.jpeg |
Very helpful ThrasherMax . A picture paints a thousand words as they say. Any pictures of the bolts that need to be undone and done up to make the seat adjustment?
I have no intention of adjusting mine but always helpful if I do and more importantly, for everyone else. Pip  |

Since, changing I have done 150 miles, including trips to Heathrow from Horsham... back is 100% fine! |

I need to resurrect this thread, because i've got the same question.. Didn't take a closer at the seats yet, but i am curious to know in which position they currently are in if its possible without removing them. Not desperate to take them out, if its not necessary. I am a bit late to the party however that be, thanks for the pictures thrashermax. |
Can't reach the top hole in the back
Hey guys, greetings from bavaria the home of our babys,
Am i doing something wrong? Using the method that was posted here, everything fine. Didn't get an airbag light or anything. But i only could raise the rear to the middle position. The steelcable of the tilt release thing isn't long enough. I would love to sit a little more upright, i'm a big fella and would love to better reach the steering wheel. Cheers Alex |
Did mine today. Lowest on the back and middle on the front. A friend on this forum also told me the lumbar cushion could be adjusted. So did that too. Much better although I might bulk out the lumbar a bit more. I have found that these kind of seats (I had a 987 Spyder before this), offer little/no lumbar support, so you end up slouching into the seat. This gives me neck ache. Getting older I guess;-)
Cheers. |
quick q. as I need to do mine as it feels like i am constricted and previous car was ok.
so the 2 questions I have is. 1. Please confirm the default BMW position from new. 2. what is the general preferred setting (6 foot driver) cheers John |
Been meaning to do mine for.....years. Decided to bite the bullet today. Seat out no problem, grommet screw & trim off no problem, changed seat height to lowest rear, middle front (the passenger side has been like that since I bought & driver side was set to highest rear & highest front). Right then, reassembly should be the easy bit.....this is where I hit a problem. :banghead: With the lowered seat position, the gap between the seat cover & part of the tilt componentry was significantly smaller & I could not for the life of me get the seat trim back on. After many, many attempts & a lot of swearing, I gave up & called a coach trimmer (one of the last genuine & quality coach trimmers in Scotland) who happens to stay nearby. He got it back on whilst I nipped back to the house for the trim bolts I'd accidentally left there - 'tricks of the trade' he said so I have no idea how he managed it. Ah well, seating position much better now & should never need adjusted again!
