BUT when I said it was ADAC they transferred me to Germany where the guy logged the breakdown, then he passed the file to the AA who palmed it off to a local firm. All worked though, can't grumble.

I got a clutch and gearbox on goodwill at 45k miles and 70k miles (clutch only) and paid just half labour, zero parts and got 2 year parts warranty.

Give it a go or change dealers. They will want the work.

52k miles. I don't know the warranty history of the car but of course from the dealers' perspective they are looking at an M3 with ridiculous brakes, suspension, seats/cage/harnesses, track wheels etc. It just screams "abused" and therefore most likely not covered. I'll ask though, doesn't hurt :)

Ouch mate ... kicks me into getting the warranty sorted that I keep thinking about but not doing!

It's SMG, you can't abuse it!

Righto all sorted, albeit with a "wee" <cough>£2375 injection of cash.

A number of points to raise

1. All you guys with warranties. Thats great, if your car looks like it did when it was in the showroom. Mine screams track car and everyone knows a warranty claim on a modified car is laughable.

2. "Good will", I did ask and was told "er..no chance. On a 2003 yr car??". The dealer did put in a call though and right enough, got zip.

Old basic cars can be cheap and reliable. Old cars with gadgets, not always so ;-)

They also changed the "salmon relay" for me as that had some signs of scorching. A £4.50 part, wish it was *just* that eh.

I would go mental if I had a claim and the dealer said no.

1. they would have to prove it's been used as a track car, which I think they would struggle with
and
2. all the parts you list are modifications that would not effect SMG transmission operation

luckily the dealer most of the guys use know the common faults found on the CSL and are very good at justifying it to BMW warranty claims

Like everything in life, its not what you know, its who you know.

You have a shit dealer end of.

Those with mods have a good dealer:thumbs:

I had a few warranty claims on mine. KW coilovers, Alcons all round, exhaust, race seats with harnesses. track wheels with track tyres. All fine.

PS I have a brand new set of XP10's here to fit your Alcons, 200 notes if your interested
