A little Gem - where it all began with that the poor mans Batmobile. :notworthy:
http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bmw/other-models/bmw-2002-turbo-2008/894376

Before my time, in the days when owning a LHD was considered to be foreign rubbish and automatically doubled you insurance premium (so I'm told)
The 00 series was the first mass market BMW produced and according to the old man a fabulous drivers car. (He owned a 2002Tii amongst many others)

Anyone fancy a proper classic?

Thanks for the link Steve and yes it works fine. I first saw this on ebay a couple of months back, but bought the CSL instead, I tried to tempt the old man with it being RHD, but he said those times had passed long ago. More into his Tridents these days. :thumbs:Thumbs up this time :hahaha:

In fact it's been re-listed and this time it's had a bid:

Thats friend of mine Bradley's car.
His brother is a member on here and has a SG CSL.

Nice machine but I recon (and told him) he should finish it 1st then sell.

Thanks for that Paul, the 02 looks great as is, but would look even better as a finished project are you not tempted? I am, but nowhere to store it is the current problem.

Hahaha yes I've been pretty tempted but if I go old skool it will be a MK2 Escort that takes priority.

Meeting Brad this week for a BS over a coffee so will try and avoid any tempting conversations :bigcry:

I would love that car.... 2 things stop me

1. no space for it
2. wouldn't have a clue how to finish it

Whoever buys it imo is going to have a superb car...!!!!

Steve - there's no problem with the 00's technically they are a bit of dinosaur not unlike the Escort XR3 although this one was has the later engine from a 318Ti which could add a bit of complication, but nothing a good techie with a rolling road couldn't sort.

I gave the old man a gentle nudge again, reminding him of his days on the Clubs Regional Committee, back in the day. Alas to no avail, perhaps the spark is well and truly extinguished, he's never even sat in the CSL.

I even suggested that if he bought it he could leave it me in his will, along with the Tridents and a Duc Superlite he's got stashed away. :supz: A bit mercenary I know but true

A little known fact - did you know that the paint thickness on the 00's was twice as much as that on the later E30 models. He really liked his 00's and the only reason he never bought a turbo was the LHD, he test drove a Polaris Silver one and ended up with a Tii instead. I Thought the conversation would have swung it, I'll just have to keep nudging

After all this time, I can't believe that it hasn't sold.

Starting bid £10K, now I'm tempted but common sense must prevail, I've nowhere to store it and it's not the kind of motor to be left parked on the drive - oh woe is me :(

I know what you mean at £10k it's a steal...... Was looking at it over on passionford.com yesterday. I'd love the space and knowledge to get her finished off.

I've put it on Derins thread in the Detailing Area, he's always rebuilding something or other, with meticulous attention to detail, although it's not 100% original let's see if he bites.
