I run ps2's at 32 psi cold all year round on the road
and i run my cups on track 25 psi cold they heat up to 31 or 32 psi on track

They work well at this presure and give even ware.

Shimmy I find cups slide if i run them over 31/32 psi hot, But knockhill is a hard track on tyres

i think what track matters alot and also what camber you run as its very easy to overheat part of the tyre if the camber is not in or out enough.

trouble with running lower pressures is you get more edge tyre wear which can obviously shorten tyre life.

I found last week that the middle of my tyres was wearing much better than before (as it used to be edge first) which i think means temps across them are probably more even than before and camber is better plus probabaly i am working them better.

I must admit tyres are very interesting bits of rubber

They must be running on the midle of the tyre

i have run 45 on training days to avoid edge wear, and i could see running 40 on road tyres if they had weak side walls BUT cups are so string on the side i couldnt see a reason to run above 35 on track unless your tyre edges had worn out and you were limiting wear to the middle oif the tyre

So whats recommended for track to keep tires in good order but also run the car well on the track?

At Spa on Monday I found keeping the pressures at 32 front 34 rear hot gave the best balance. I got good even wear across them all round & the grip was good. Started off the day at 34/36 but the car was sliding around a little at that pressure. Obviously, different driving styles & set up will not make this the same for everyone.

I do advise checking the pressures right through the day when on track. As track temps rose at Spa, I found I had to keep letting a little pressure out through the day to regulate 32/34psi.
