Hi Folks

Sorry for the delay in posting this, been a bit busy as some c**t hacked one of the websites at work :bigcry:

However, I went to Hockenheim on Monday for the first testday with the new racecar. It's not the fastest of laps as its my first time driving a sequential gearbox, and its left hand drive, but I had great fun regardless.

Needless to say the car is incredible and I'm extremely happy with it. Schirmer Race Engineering have created a monster!

I like the fact that despite all the hardcore race addenda it still has a BMW keyfob dangling next to the steering wheel !

The keyfob is required because of the standard ECU - normally Tom's racecars don't need this.

Everyone who arrives at the workshop here is asking the same question, so you're not alone! :hahaha:

ere ,ere Left hooker are faster

They where original designed to be a left hookers, No extra bends in the exhaust = more BHP , equal corner weight a cross the car = better balance

Toms done a fantastic job and Thorney will be pleased to know that my nuts get cut off if the car is dirty, so for a change this year I will need to make sure the car is kept clean

The good news is that Tom has agreed to attend all races supporting Dan and myself, so really looking forward to it even more know, having his expertise behind us.

Lots of people have said it looks like a M3 bumper, but if you look closely you'll see its one piece including the lip at the bottom, to which the splitter is attached. Tom's design, and I think it looks fantastic.

Thanks Daz - its a real shame you're not in this year as you were exactly the same - your car was definitely getting quicker and I had to force you into making a mistake to get past at Snett :hahaha:

Most people know I'm no longer a fan of the SMG box in racing, perhaps it was my bad experience, who knows, but either way I don't think I got a proper chance to prove how good or crap I am, with the exception of Castle Combe perhaps when I threw away 3rd place in the first race by a silly mistake. I blame Daz, he was encouraging me to drift :hahaha:

Its a brand new shell from BMW, and most components from the old car were replaced as they were getting tired after numerous ring laps. Main big item is the engine of course from the old car.

My old shell was sold to one of John's customers.

Thats what Tom tells me - left hand = better. But there are other arguments, with most circuits being clockwise that right hookers are better - so I've no idea.

It was also built as a left hooker because the car is far more valuable - it could be sold in the future to a VLN team or anyone racing in pretty much any country apart from the UK!

lol !! Was a giggle for sure, im gonna save my pennies as want to do the VLN at some stage, hoping this year but at worst early next, and may have a race or two for this year in something if it all works out, but will be a shame not be with you lot again, although I will be there supporting during the day at some of the rounds, and maybe some evenings :hahaha::hahaha:

Very nice indeed  Was that a NEW LHD M3 CSL shell with the CF roof or the regular, all steel M3 shell ? Either way, must have been a real joy building a race car with mostly NEW parts.
