My ongoing obsession for cleanliness continues, I've had a little go at all parts of the car so far but decided a few weeks ago to bite the bullet and get a machine polisher and all the right tools for the job, so £500 later and I've got all the toys I need to get the paintwork up to scratch

First off I bought a Meguiars G220, a good entry level machine that I can't do any damage to the car with unless I'm a complete vandal! :hahaha: ;)

Using Megs M95 and then M80 I did two passes over the car and it turned out like this:

http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz43/F3CSL/Machine%20Polished/DSC02256DesktopResolution.jpg

As you can see it came up pretty well but when the sunlight caught it, it was evident that I'd left some light swirls in the paintwork and also some marring and light scratches from bird shit removal was still there :banghead:

Next up to get some treatment were the wheels and arches, they were removed, cleaned, clayed and the tyres dressed with Megs High Gloss Endurance tyre protection, inside and out:

http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz43/F3CSL/Machine%20Polished/DSC02255DesktopResolution.jpg

I do have some other pics but need to do them again and seal them as I now have some Poorboys wheel sealant :)

So, fast forward to this weekend and I decided to get the paintwork totally done and sorted, first off was to snow foam it, having not used this stuff before I didn't have a fookin clue what I was doing but I got there in the end and had much fun in doing so! ;) :hahaha:

Wheels treated with Valet Pro Bilberry:

Next up I masked the car up ready for swirl removal:

http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz43/F3CSL/Machine%20Polished/DSC02276DesktopResolution.jpg

Today's machining consisted of another pass using the Megs #95, basically today I used a little more product than last time and worked it and the panel much harder than before, the results were much much better
This is the car afterwards and having been cleansed with Zymol HD Cleanse:

http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz43/F3CSL/Machine%20Polished/DSC02278DesktopResolution.jpg

Next off I cleaned all the door and boots shuts and gaps between the lights etc:

http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz43/F3CSL/Machine%20Polished/DSC02268DesktopResolution.jpg

Finally my last stage was to polish the car using Poorboys polish and then detail with Zymol Field glaze, glass was cleaned and tyres dressed again, these are the final pics of how it stood today before pissing it down with rain! :banghead: :bigcry:

http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz43/F3CSL/Machine%20Polished/DSC02284DesktopResolution.jpg

http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz43/F3CSL/Machine%20Polished/DSC02287DesktopResolution.jpg

So, for now it's all done, next up is to use my Zymol Titanium wax on it and get a few coats of that on there, get the wheels and arches cleaned and dressed properly and then start on the engine bay and interior :bigcry:

Hope you all like and sorry for all the pics, should have done the post bit by bit but hadn't done :bigcry: If anyone has any tips to add then let me know as you can always learn more ;) I'll get some more updates done over Easter I reckon

I love the roof pic with the old dears in the background thinking to themselves: "Look at that bloody youth - parking his car on the grass" :hahaha:

Dan - very nice work mate. Must have taken you ages! I've toyed with the idea of a rotary polisher for some time but still haven't took the plunge! What do you plan on dressing the wheel arches with out of interest?

I have used Autoglym 'Vinyl & Rubber Care' for years - does a decent job.

I will try this stuff next though as most detailers recommend it:

303 Aerospace Protectant

good work mate, a lot of time and care taken as it should (keep the updates coming), like your evo wiper blades btw. :)

this stuff is good for cleaning the engine bay, boot trays and other plastics.

and this stuff for the arches (can be used on the engine bay but I don't)

That looks amazing

Really wish i had the skill to attempt something like this to mine. Polishing cloth and some Super Resin is about as far as it goes.

Yeah that old lady said hello, I think she did wonder WTF I was doing! :hahaha:

I spent all weekend on it Rob, watched the F1 nice and early so I didn't get interupted doing the car! ;)

For the Plastic arch liners a mate recommended some poorboys bold and bright, I will try it next weekend and post up the results, I don't quite know what to do with the rear arches, polish maybe? :bigcry:

Pervert ;) :hahaha: Joking aside though, GREAT job and tons of effort there Dan. I thought the first pic of the car you posted was the finished product... then I saw the rest :clown: .

I like my CSL to be clean so I clean it more of less every time it's back from an outing, but no where near to that extend :smt107 as I know it'll get dirty again, in no time.
