detailed the CSL today, I know how much you boys like a picture so took some as I went along. if i had more time i would have liked to have clayed the whole car (not just the rear end) and would have liked to have taken off the wheels, clean behind them etc, maybe for another day. Still practicing with the rotary machine polisher, haven't used it on the on the CSL yet!

Looking good mate, although you should be ashamed of yourself for letting her get so dirty in the first place! I'd have to get of that old wheel weight sticky pad if it were my car - being anal and all that LOL :hahaha:

I see you got the small front number plate in the end then ;)

Looks beautiful mate, you've done a lovely job there by the looks of things!

Couple of things though, having to wash the car after snow foaming it anyway do you think it's really worth it in the first place? I know each detailer has different opinions as I spoke to a good mate who runs a detailing business and he doesn't bother with it as the cars usually need a 'touch' wash anyway rather than a touchless one if you know what I mean!? lol

Also, how do you find the Autoglym stuff? I moved away from Autoglym a few years ago as I found it very chalky and didn't like it, the likes of Megs gold class liquid wax is very good, I'm also using Zymol Titanium now which I swear by! :smokin:

 it was very dirty, too dirty! them pads are a buggar to get off, might borrow the missus's hair dryer when i go back to them. smaller plates look better i think, and saves weight

cheers Dan, i know what you mean. i think it was worth it (this time) i wouldn't normally do the snow foam every clean but it was very dirty. what i've read about the snow foam is that its ment to soften the dirt helping to take it off when you pressure wash the snow off (looks cool too:supz:). i prefer a touch wash myself.

the chalkiness is bad, especially with the polish, if you get it in gaps its a nightmare and does leave white powder , the gloss afterwards helps clear some of it up but not ideal. i've always used Autoglym, i tried chemical guys all-in-one once and it was rubbish imo. might give your recommendations a go. i've got a tub of dodo juice light fantastic i sometimes use, its very good.

Yeah I'm with you on it softening up the dirt, seems a reasonable explanation ;)

Mine doesn't get very dirty so I don't feel it's worth it, I might pinch the Mrs Dad's Karcher and buy some snow foam to give it a go though! Lol

Regarding the Autoglym the polish is very very chalky and I find cuts alot, probably not too bad on BMW as the paint is a lot harder, I think you should try out the Meguiars Gold Class Liquid wax and see how you get on, don't let it go too dry once it's applied but it's very easy to use and leaves a lovely finish, for £12 from Halfords it's got to be worth a go ;)

Dodo juice is good but I don't have first hand experience of using it, only had good recommendations on it, the Zymol I use is the 'Titanium' and I tend to apply it by hand, get it nice and warm on the palm and then rub it in! :gayfight::smokin:

I have just ordered a Megs G220 machine with the new Megs #95 for some swirl removal, once the days are a little longer and I've had some practice with it the CSL is gonna get the works so I'll put some pics up!

How long did you spend doing the above to yours? :)

normally get the neighbours peering though windows when i get the snow foam on, think they think i'm mad spending so long cleaning the car.

i'll give the Meguiars and Zymol a go when i run out of my stuff. G220 is the machine i've got i'm sure. i spent about 4 hours on the car, next time hopefully there will be sun, heat and more beer breaks.... bring on summer.

Lol! The only time I'm at home really is weekends an I see my neighbours everytime I'm washing the car, they must think I've got OCD! :hahaha:

You'll like Megs and Zymol mate, no chalk what so ever which is great and the finish is deeper with the Gold Class Wax IMO :smokin:

4 hours is good to do all that, I can spend 8 hours including interior doing a 5/6 stage clean and polish! :bigcry:

I'm quite looking forward to getting my hands on the G220, glad BMW's paint is hard, good to practice on! :bigcry:

Definately bring on the summer!

Did you find them (cleanyourcar.co.uk) the cheapest for all the Chemicals TMAQ ?

their prices seem ok for chemicals, i havn't shopped around much to be honest as i was recommended to use them.

i normally get all cleaning bits from there, apart autoglym. they are quick to deliver and have most bits you need. :)

'Couple of things though, having to wash the car after snow foaming it anyway do you think it's really worth it in the first place?'

Main benefit of snow foam is that it removes the larger dirt particles.
Also it is brilliant for under wheel arches where you can't normally reach.

The main reason for using it is that you are minimising the risk of dragging dirt across the panel which could create swirls or marks in the laquer.

After waxing / sealing the car, certainly on the Mrs's car, I just snow foam and leave it at that. It's great stuff.

Best
