You would not beleve how much better it is but you will soon.

Lots of people who sell the CSL are back in 1 after a while,
once you have the bug there is no going back.

I had 2 CSL's then i bought the e46 m3 had it 4 days sold it and bought a black CSL i have had this 1 for a year now.

I came from the Jap scene with a Skyline R34 GTR, awesome car but the CSL is in another league, build quality and noise of that induction, R34 sounded good, but that was because of the 5 inch exhaust, didn't get much engine noise, CSL sounds fantastic from the engine and can be quiet on the motorway if you want it to be. Also the interior in the R34 wasn't that nice, bit grey but was long lasting and strong. Do like the mood lighting in the CSL :smokin:
Hers a pic of the 34, awesome machine, will miss it but i have a CSL

Everyone I've spoken recommends a sports exhaust on the C4S...sounds like a must have. How sis you find it campaired to the CSL?

cslbecks
17-11-2008, 10:30 AM
I drove a C4S - admittedly it was stock - and was amazed how slow and heavy it felt - very disappointed. I went from a 335i MSport Coupe Auto, full Milltek system, Evolve remap (380BHP) and then to my current CSL. No comparison although the 335i remapped would blow the CSL away in straight line speed. Dont miss it one bit though. Replacing the CSL will be incredibly tough in terms of pound per metal.

Chap in my road has just put a Milltek exhaust on his CSL from Simpsons and I must say it sound terrible. It's so loud and not a nice loud either. Just my opion but for me it spoils the sound of the car...it doesn't sound like a CSL anymore...If you shut your eyes it could be a tuned Scooby, Mitsu, Skyline etc....not my cup of tea I'm afraid.

Came from an Audi S3 and a 1985 Astra GTE (my baby). I so have a soft spot for Astra GTE's. Used to have a 16v one when I was 21. Always wanted the limited ed with leather interior. Would still love to have one in my "fleet"!

Ahh 16v Astra GTE :-D , that made me smile , had four of those in my 18-24 stage ... all colors , but not the Ltd Edition really wanted one of those too, Met steel grey was my Fav , had OZ super T 's on and up rated suspension as it was a bit of a challenge otherwise staying with my mates in 5 turbo's and 1.9 GTI's through the bends !!! Blew them away in a straight line

Fantastic cars! Well fast in the day. My now husband had a sierra cosworth and the GTE wasn't far off it from the lights! I have had a couple. Originally I had an Astra SR with a 1.8i engine (that was written off by some fool doing a uturn in front of us). Then had a 1990 burgandy 16v - same colour as the limited ed one but without all the niceness. Had some TSW wheels put on that. Then up until 4 years ago I had the 1985 red 1.8 gte which was written off when I let a friend use it for a while :banghead: I will have to dig out some pics of them ! I nearly bought one in steel grey too, it was owned by a semi-pro snooker player local to me. Had too much wrong with it though. I would love to own one again some day - thing is, they are/were going for quite a sum of money. Will have to see if this recession has brought the prices down!

3.5k ! Wow ! When we finally move later next year to the Isle of Wight and have a big garage, I may have to find some money for one as I will have the room then.

Scan the photos!!! That's what I will do - mine are all on ye old camera too! I will just have to try and find them without a pic of me in it in my 90's clothes and big hair!

It was up for sale around Sept/Oct. Not sure if it sold or he decided keep it.

This is the last mail I had from the chap. It may have sold but may be worth calling him as he will know where it went.

Just to let you know i have dropped the price from £12500 to £10995 for a quicker sale if you would like more details give me a ring on TEL 07710783894 - Name Mark Dodds.

Yes that is cheap for the car that it is. I paid 12500 for it and sold it a year later for 12600. The chap who had it from me sold it for 12400 and then this chap just wanted to get rid of it so it went for 10000. I would have bought it back in a flash at that price...if the wife had let me that is.

Alright Jon, welcome over. Good to see another member joining the 'more friendly' forum.

I am coming over for Christmas, bringing the car too so maybe bump into you, although not literally :banghead:

Thanks Donk, ya the MK4… if that car could talk it could tell a story or 2!

I have a soft spot for the Dubs too englebert, I’d love a really mint MK2 G60. The remote was a lot more work than we first thought, thankfully the boys persevered for it turned out to be one of my favourite mods.

Look us up when you are over baz, don’t be expecting any Christmas presents from us tho, we’ve coilovers and cup tyres to buy before our next Ring trip at Easter.

I have come from a Mini Cooper S (kept it though)

I came from a S too, awesome little car. Totally un-modded though. I wanted a CSL after about 3months of owning the S, so it wasnt getting a penny spent on it!

My wife had a standard Cooper when they first came out and I must say that car was a alot of fun. Didn't want her to sell really but back then they sold at a profit even after a year of ownership. The Cooper S must have been even more fun.

Just got rid of my wifes CooperS. Cracking car. Like a go-kart with comfy seats. The whistle of the supercharger was great. And the power was imense for such a little thing.

Love the golfs J13NY S. Both of them, really nice.

My wife did take an S out when they first came out. Wasn't a quick as I thought it would be after the standard Cooper but I think that was the Supercharger..much smother than a turbo....def quicker than the Cooper though...Lovely little car.

You're call, it may put me out of my misery. Where about are you Daz?

Thought it was about time I posted on this thread.

I had an E46 M3 before the CSL. A great car but the CSL is much more my cup of tea. Only thing I'd consider to replace it would be a GT3 RS but really can't justify the price difference. It's just not that much better than a CSL.

I was looking through some old pics today and found some of my astra's! Not great quality (as the photo's are from the 90's and I haven't stored them nicely!) but you can see.

Here is my first SR (with 1.8sri engine) - It wasn't me that crashed it!! Can't find any pics of it intact! I cringe now, but it had a Sonic the Hedgehog graphic on the back.

love the SL .. what engine ?

It is the 3l straight six. It has just had all of the bodywork sorted out and a coolant flush and refill. I am now changing fuel oil and air filters, oil, transmission fluid, diff oil, power steering fluid, spark plugs and leads. Basically giving it a 'proper' service before it is put in to service. I suspect some of these fluids will have been in for the last 25 years. It is a September 1989 cars so one of the last made, currently on just under 100k miles. There are a few jobs which need doing on it but I'm mainly going to use it for getting to work and back and top down journeys in the summer. I would have been happy with a V8 or the straight 6, it was more a case of which one was in good condition and at the right price.

MC
