Most of you guys wont know of it, but the Mitsubishi Lancer Register have ran a couple of these days in the past, this time they are alittle short on numbers and so have invited non Evo's too

The event takes place at RAF Marham in Norfolk, this is the basic run down...

We’ll use the full length of the 1.5 mile / 60m wide runway of super smooth tarmac. The event will be fully marshalled and include paramedic cover to ensure it runs safely. Food will be managed by the RAF who'll be based alongside the MLR ’30-130 paddock’.

All cars will be fitted with a Racelogic V-Box in front of the MLR unit to record your car's performance. Cars will run one at a time and will have to start within a designated area for the run to count. Having completed a “30-130 run” all drivers will be able to go on to complete a top speed run if they want. It’s not compulsory but you may not have a better, safer and legal way to find out your car’s straight line performance. The next car will be released when car No.1 has passed the halfway mark on the runway.

Once the car has returned to the Paddock and the VBox removed, it can be driven onto the corner weights at the rear of the MLR unit to be weighed. Your 30-130 time and top speed result (if applicable) will be displayed at the MLR unit as soon as Dave has downloaded the data from your runs.

The main thread is http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=240940

The second thread opening the day up to non Evo's is http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=242612

Theres two days, the one i am taking part in is on Saturday 7th March - this is open to MLR members only (joining fee is £35 per year) - i know some others on here are also members of the MLR so this is for you too :smokin:

The second day on Sunday 8th March is open to anyone, MLR member or not.

All the information you need is in the links above, i know straight line speed isnt what CSL's are about, but i'm interested in what times i can post, and it would be great to compare my car with other Members CSL's on here. Anyone up for it???

At the last 30-130 i did 7.1 secs 30-130 which was the fastest time of the day. 800hp Evo 9!

Wounder how much slower the CSL is!
Nice place to learn to drift! :smokin:

9.65 secsonds for me on the same day, just looked at the weight of your car, 1357 against my 1491 - i wonder what weight the CSL's will come in at?

What you think 30-130 time? 12 seconds at a guess???

SMD
28-01-2009, 11:25 PM
Well rich i spend alot of time using the Vbox etc. I have not done a
30-130 in the CSL yet. 3 Years ago at the 1st 30-130 i did 17.9 with my Evo 8 MR with 400hp.
I think the CSL will be around 15-16secs! :clown:

Weight, well mine is a true light weight with no air con, xenons etc! This could be the place where my CSL would be better! :smokin: :hahaha:

What the hell do the G's feel like in an 800bhp car??

SMD
28-01-2009, 11:43 PM
Its very fast but i have 400hp in my evo 8 then 600hp in my 9 then 800hp with a 5 speed dogbox! :smokin:

I loved it but it had to be taken on a trailer to every event. lost interest in the end and stipped it for bits! Then bought the CSL! :notworthy:

Have a vid i will route it out now!

Rich its time to post your Top Gun vid

Im working that weekend but if I can sort shifts out could be interested..

The CSL for me is very deceiving as far as speed is concearned.

It feels no where near as quick off the mark as my old IX GT but once its on cam just pulls nice and linear with what seems to be like little tail off..

Perfect day for some benchmark results :smokin:

Would be great to get a few of us there, not sure about you guys but i think it would be great to actually compare the performance of my own car against other CSL's. Shame no one with a Stage 1 or 2 could join us???

I live in Norfolk and aslong as im in the country i plan to go. Mines got the stage 2 and should have the 4.10 diff conversion done by then so should be good to see the difference.

Where you the guy who lost it at high speed at Marham?????

I would have sh*t myself if that happened to me.....

60-130mph takes 13.7 seconds with the vbox, pulling 0.97G on acceleration

Quite abit longer than my estimate then :hahaha:

To be fair i dont care, i love driving the CSL alot more than my old Evo and that had over 600bhp.

Bealo - if you want to run you'll need to get security passed and paid up so could be pushing it alittle for you to make it no?

I cant wait! :tonqe:

Would have loved to be there with the mlr lads but unfortunately the dates have fell on a day when we are away on a family holiday. Gutted!! Would be very interested to see what performance times the csl's would post though. I think that a csl would be coming in about 14-15 seconds from 30-130 blast. Took mine out for a quick shake down sunday just gone and i will say this for sure..... speed creeps up on you before you know it . . . .!! Thing is you dont get the punch of a turbo so the feel is incomparable with an evo in my opinion. . :) The noise in sport mode is for winners though hey!!

I am in the States and will bring a kit back it will cost about £500 to buy and about £400 to fit.

I have heard really good things about it and can't wait to get it fitted. Ill let you know my thoughts on it.

Go for it Terry - the CSL wasnt as quick as i thought in a straight line, not that i'm really bothered, the long sweeping 100mph corner at the end of the runway was best, never drifted a RWD car at that speed before yesterday :hahaha::hahaha::hahaha:

There was a head wind that became quite strong towards the end of the day, so figures will be down on what they potentially could have been, plus i always had our lass in the car with me :)

Weight of my car was 1383 KG - that was with around 10kg of crap in car, and if i'd completely emptied the boot that might have saved another 5KG?

ROSS W (40 - EVO 6)6.92

Is that second it took to go from 30-130 mph???

SMD
08-03-2009, 11:57 AM
Yes Ross had a good day and has gone quicker than i did.

I won the last two events doing 7.1without NOS. But Ross used NOS to get this time! Very fast cars. Alot of trouble tho!:banghead:

They are pretty toilet arent they, i was honestly expecting mid teens, slippery shape compared to the evo, flat shifting, no lag, that is bizarelly slow sounding.
My old Evo 8 ran in the 9's full weight, around 1425kg i think, i would never have said it felt twice as fast and a bit more in a straight line.
Ferking strange that.

At the end of the day, does it really matter?

My old car ran 9.96 @ 183 - the CSL 21.47 @ 146 - given the choice, i'd take the CSL every time :smt055

Agree, the CSL is an awesome all-rounder with real track ability. My modified Evo VI, although fun, was an expensive pain in the ass at times and not half the car of the CSL IMHO. Evo's sound shite too!:hahaha:

Im more than happy with the CSL  Just find it strange that a Golf Gti can post similar times :hahaha:

Honestly thought from how they feel on the road that it would of ran quicker  but thats life! Obvious that the CSL's natural habitat is at the Ring :smokin:

trundles off to borrow a vbox to collect my own data:gayfight:

AlexGTT
12-03-2009, 12:39 PM
Not surprised at all by these results. CSL is a standard car against modified Evo's. In a straight line there's no contest, especially with the CSL's intergalactic gearing. One with a 4.1:1 diff would have been an interesting comparison.

Throw in a decent track and look at the lap times. That would have the CSL climbing the chart. I remember lapping Spa with a very rapid, flame spitting Evo blasting past me like I was in reverse on the Kemmel straight after Eau Rouge. On every lap, by the time we were going through Pouhon he was holding me up.:smokin:

RichW
12-03-2009, 01:58 PM

Indeed, you read my mind Nathan. Roll on Spa in May. Your going on that one aren't you? Saw your CSL after cage install, etc. Looking very fruity. Be interested in the weight. Ant told me it hadn't been on the scales yet.

13-03-2009, 01:11 PM
Still hasn't to my knowledge, waiting on new springs to come in. honestly not sure what it'll come in at, still got glass in the doors and I'm keeping air con too. Add in the weight of the cage and who knows.

Yeah, going on it, can't wait :)
